Brownie Jewels & Badges Work

All the Brownie Jewels fully earned the Brownie badge, "Fair Play."  Probably twice.  Each patrol had a Folder of Fun in which they had selected several activities to learn and share among themselves and then lead in a whole unit attempt.  Our last day we participated in the Camp Olympics inside which helped to fulfill each of the requirements.

We also spent considerable time working this week on our Safety Award.  Part of this was learning maps, so that we would know our way around or how to get unlost if necessary.  On Friday we took a hike through USI buildings reading landmarks and came to the seismometer on campus.  We journeyed back through the Geology wing and viewed maps of natural hazards, especially those of Indiana.  There is one major component left of the Safety Award that needs to be completed within the family before giving your daughter the badge.  Each family should discuss an emergency plan consisting of:  1) house evacuation plan with an outside meeting location; 2) community disaster emergency plan.
